Note: Priority industries defined as industries with high potential job growth and alignment to Virginia's strengths that will position Virginia as an unparalleled business location. Prior iterations of these data were not designed for such reporting. For a great many workers in Virginia, there is not a one-to-one match between wage record and employer record as many employers have multiple reporting units, all of which report under a single account number. Further, each unit may be designated with a different industry code. In the absence of a reporting schema, the assignment of even the most prevalent employer codes were essentially random. For this, and future versions, priority has been given to the designated industries which has resulted in a substantially different view of the outcomes.
